Profile
I am dual certified in general and respiratory paediatrics. Within the NHS I work as a paediatric respiratory consultant and am lead for the tertiary respiratory service at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, London. The service provides specialist multi-disciplinary respiratory care to children within East London and beyond with complex respiratory issues.
I qualified from Royal Free and University College Medical School, University College London in 2000, where I was also awarded a Bachelor of Science in Immunology and Cell Pathology. I trained in paediatric respiratory medicine in several highly regarded centres including the Royal Brompton Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London Hospital, and underwent bronchoscopy training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, USA. I was awarded a doctorate by Imperial College London for research undertaken within the Lloyd Lab, Leukocyte Biology Department, and the National Heart & Lung Institute of the Royal Brompton Hospital.
As well as overall lead for the paediatric respiratory service at the Royal London, I am lead for bronchiectasis, primary ciliary dyskinesia and the respiratory care of children with immunodeficiency and neurodisability. I am chair and lead for the European Respiratory Society Task Force on paediatric neurodisability and respiratory morbidity; and a member of the Health Improvement Committee of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health.
I hold the position of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London; and supervise and teach a number of medical students, including supporting undergraduate projects.
